Shameful post.
I don’t even want to check and see how long it’s been since the last post. We have been busy. Here are some highlights.
- Mommy started and quit a full-time job working downtown for Marcus & Millichap. Blake started preschool 4 days a week and really likes it.
- Blake and family visited his North Carolina family outside of Charlotte, NC for Thanksgiving. He got to meet Mimi and Poppy as well as his great-great Grammy Toni and 3 aunts and uncles.
- Blake has 4 teeth now! 2 on top and 2 on the bottom.
- Blake got a fever of 101 degrees after his 6 month shots!
- Blake is really good at ROARING like a dinosaur.
- Blake can also say Da-da-da and there is debate over whether he’s associating it with Ben. I witnessed a pretty convincing demonstration in which we were looking at family pictures and he said "Da-Da" EXACTLY when a picture of Ben came on the screen.
- Blake is also practicing waving - but we don’t know if he knows what that means, either, he could just be nervous.
- Blake has joined the ranks of babies would rather Wear It than Eat it. We are introducing rice cereal. It is messy, but I think he’s starting to get the hang of it.
Update - since I started writing this post, I got really sick, so did Ben, we both had pink eye, and bad colds (sinus infection?)
Blake seems to have sailed through.
I can now see 2 new side teeth coming in on top next to the front teeth.
I also fed him some strained pumpkin with his rice cereal and he seemed to like it.
He has the army crawl down and can race forward pretty fast, especially when he’s going after the computer wires and surround-sound speakers under Daddy’s desk!

Imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning at 5:45 for the first time all night! It seems our little miracle slept through the night for the first time ever! When I woke up, Blake wasn’t even awake yet, although he was making a racket in his basinet.
I got up to feed him, but when I took him in to nurse, he didn’t even open his eyes. Back in the crib he went and I slept til 7:30 when he woke me up again, smiling and ready for breakfast!
So, his last feeding was at 10:00, that means he went ALL NIGHT - 9 hours!! - Whoo Hoo! I hadn’t gotten a full night’s sleep for 2 months, when he was born.
I am hoping this heralds a new age of sleep for me, but I have heard that other things like teeth may soon interrupt his sleep again. That’s OK, I’ll catch up on my rest while I can!

Well, Blake just had his 2-month physical and according to the doctor, he is a perfect specimen of babyhood. His "percentiles" for head, height and weight keep going up with his weight topping out at a hefty 13.1 pounds. Fortunately, his head is in a relatively low percentile, so all the praise we’re heaping on him, is apparently not lodging there.
The toughest part of the appointment was his shots. He had to get 3 needles and he cried! It made me want to cry too, but he took it like a man and sucked it up after we stuck his pacifier in his mouth.
We’ve noticed that he’s starting to get drooly lately, which I read may be an impending sign of teeth descending somewhere from high in the gum. No teeth have erupted yet, and I’m hoping that they don’t until he gets a little closer to eating solid foods.
Other than that, he remains painfully cute. We’re working on getting him to talk and smile more, but he’s only moderately compliant. Ben threatens him with talk of Baby Suresh over in India, getting the leg up on him - just the friendly pressure he needs to stay on top of his game in today’s flat business economy.

Blake is doing as wonderfully as ever! He has rolled over 4 times now (from stomach to back, during his "Tummy Time.") He is full of ADORABLE smiles for friends and strangers alike and is very engaging with coos and little sighs. (In between bouts of hiccups and occasional baby sneezes - which are also part of his cute-as-can-be baby audio track.)
I received a clean bill of health after my 6-week postpartum exam and can now do things like running and sit-ups 
(neither of which I have embraced yet…) but the baby weight is coming off anyway and I’m starting to attempt to squeeze into my regular clothes… it’s still tight.
Blake is starting to sleep for longer periods of time, with only 1 night time feeding now. He can make it about 6 hours at a stretch if he’s swaddled well and the room temperature is right.
We are happy and healthy and looking forward to Blake’s 2-month checkup at the end of July.
